I am a biologist with experience in environmental science and management, and currently enrolled in a PhD course at Southern Cross University, NSW, Australia. My research focuses on the development and validation of a method to assess iron bioavailability in freshwater samples. An efficient method is currently demanded, and is a key aspect in the implementation of the default guideline value (DGV) for iron in fresh waters within the Australian and New Zealand Guidelines for fresh and marine water quality (ANZG) regulatory framework. The project encompasses aspects of environmental chemistry and toxicology, and delves into the challenges of developing alternatives for standardised analytical and ecotoxicological assay procedures when dealing with water samples with iron-rich suspended solids of low bioavailability.
