Christian Bogen
Christian works at Bayer AG as policy advocacy manager for the EMEA region with focus on EU policies, sustainable food systems and integrated crop management. He also contributes to WBCSD’s work on nature-positive production and supervises sustainability field trials on two of Bayer’s German ForwardFarms.
Christian has a background in administrative law and international private law. After graduation with a diploma in foreign affairs, he extended his knowledge by studying Biology at the Philipps-University in Marburg in Germany (biodiversity management, botany and nature conservation), gained practical experiences during internships at the local nature conservation authority and the UNEP joined secretariats of the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) and the Agreement on the Conservation of Small Cetaceans of the Baltic, North East Atlantic, Irish and North Seas (ASCOBANS). He subsequently studied at the Technical University in Munich (M.Sc.) and the ENS Lyon/France with an interest in microbiology, soil sciences and the protection of soils. He later received his doctoral degree from the University of Bielefeld for the investigation of microalgae for biofuel production. Afterwards he worked with Dr. Knoell Consult as expert for metabolism studies for plant protection products and as global regulatory project manager. He joined Bayer’s environmental safety department in 2017 taking up the work in the expert function focusing on the ecotoxicology of non-target terrestrial plants. From 2019 to 2021 he took the role of a global policy advocacy manager, and now supports the EMEA PASS team since 2021.
