Dr Karina Gin is an Associate Professor with the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS). She obtained her Doctor of Science (ScD) Degree jointly from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, her Masters in Engineering from NUS and Bachelors in Civil Engineering from the University of Melbourne. Her research interest is in water quality and understanding the fate and transport of emerging microbial and chemical contaminants, including antimicrobial resistance, harmful algal blooms and wastewater surveillance of emerging contaminants. She is a Principle Investigator of research projects totalling more than $16.5m and received the Dean’s Chair Award at the Faculty of Engineering, NUS. She is an Associate Editor of Environmental Technology & Innovation, co-author of a book on ‘The Environment in Asia Pacific Harbours’ which received a UN Atlas of the Ocean award, and co-recipient of the Technology Enterprise Challenge Innovator Award, Singapore.
